The center of The DREAM Program and its mission is its Village Mentoring model, which focuses on the volunteers’ and participants’ feelings of ownership and group culture. This model creates a supportive and encouraging environment for all participants and promotes growth in each individual, as well as in the group.
What does this look like in Philadelphia? We call it DREAM FRIDAY, a weekly event where our passionate, caring, and dedicated Temple University and University of Pennsylvania mentors come together to provide one-on-one and group mentoring to children in local neighborhoods.
In just a few months, our DREAMers have enjoyed hours of programming and fun events. Some of the highlights of the season are below:
(Student mentors are matched with their mentees for one-on-one time over at West Park apartments.)
(Our teen mentors spending some time with our DREAMers at Fairhill Apartments.)
(Cecil B. Moore mentors and mentees wrap up DREAM Friday with the DREAM Cheer!)
(Beckett Gardens mentors and mentees are matched during their galactic matching ceremony!)
Congratulations and thank you to all of our mentors and youth! Our action-packed year is off to an amazing start. As we continue to DREAM big, we look forward to more innovative and thoughtful programming and can’t wait to see what opportunities arise for our DREAMERS!
